Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Each member of our treatment team is a registered assistant, and our office staff has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care. We strive to stay abreast of the very latest in technology and advances by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars.
Darla Carle – Patient Coordinator
Darla is an Anderson native. She joined our staff in June of 2003. She lives with her husband, Donnie, and her dog, Lizzie. Darla previously worked at Anderson University. She has two sons: Christopher (wife Abbie) and Kyle. Her hobbies include taking trips to Florida to see her sons and daughter-in-law, camping and reading. Darla enjoys greeting all the patients and their families when they walk in the office.
Brittany Chandler – Clinical Assistant
Brittany is a Shenandoah graduate. She completed her dental assisting training at Eder Vocational in Knightstown. After graduating, she attended Ivy Tech to obtain her Expanded Functions Certification and x-ray license. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Brittany is excited to start her orthodontic assisting career with Dr. A and his wonderful staff. :)
Karin Shreves – Financial Coordinator
Karin manages accounts receivables and payables for Dr. Avila. She also assists patients with their dental insurance concerns. Karin holds a two-year associate’s degree from Ball State and has attended several continuing education classes that relate to her role in Dr. Avila's practice. Karin resides in Dunkirk and has two daughters: Carrie and Kelly. She is also the proud grandmother of one grandson and three granddaughters. Karin enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching her husband, Rick, drag race. She also likes working on home improvements and playing with their beagle, Sam.
Kelly McCowan–Williams – New Patient Coordinator
Kelly resides in Muncie with her husband, Hank, and has three great step-daughters: Raichel, Molly and Hannah. Kelly is a graduate of Jay County High School and Ivy Tech. She joined our staff in October of 2000 and loves working here with her Mom. She meets with our new patients and introduces them to orthodontics. She enjoys doing home improvements, working in her yard and walking her dog, Brutus.
Donna Burton – Clinical Assistant
Donna and her husband, John, are from Muncie. They have three children: Emily, 24, John, 21, and Josh, 18. She has a min-pin, Rusty, and two kittens: Sunni and Lili. She has worked in both general dentistry and orthodontics for 28 years. Donna likes working with the patients and getting to know them. Donna enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her interest are reading and working at the church, where her husband is the pastor. She also enjoys anything her kids are involved in!
Jennifer Davidson – Clinical Assistant
Jennifer lives in Alexandria with her husband, Eric. They have two daughters: Kiah, 6 and Conleigh, 1.5. She has a Jack Russell named Marley. Jennifer completed her dental assisting training at Dental Careers Foundation in Connersville. For the past four years, she has worked in the oral surgery field in Washington state and Illinois. She has several hours of continuing education in dental anesthesia and sedation. She is excited to expand her knowledge and skills in orthodontics. Jennifer enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing crafts with her daughters, and watching movies with her husband. She also enjoys helping out as a leader in her church youth program – AWANA.
